Even after working with Raspberry Pi cameras (v1+v2) for years there are still options that need to be explored in informative doc page.
"--shutter" instead of "-ss" is easier to memorize:

Just in case (much) lower shutter times are needed, I did capture videos with raspivid and "--shutter 20" (yes, 20 microseconds). This works if scene is lighted very bright. The lower the "--shutter" value, the brighter the needed light.
