ArduCAM 8MP IMX219 with M12 LS40136 Lens

hey people.

currently i'am looking for an up-to-date, out-of-the-box camera module that both sports sony's imx219 sensor and a m12 threaded mount. the only solution i could come up with is arducams 8mp camera, although it's a) a knock-off and b) almost twice as expensive as the v2 board, including a ~ 10 € lens. does anyone have experiences with this device?

For v1 camera you get cheap cameras with lense if you search for NoIR.
I don't know of any v2 camera being sold with lense, was surprised to see the arducam you mentioned.
I did add M12 lense mount and different lenses to one of my v1 cameras first.
Then I did same for my only v2 camera, all was easy to do and worked without issues:

I don't think that Arducam will work on the Pi since it doesn't have the required crypto chip on it.

Unless part of the reason for the price is that they have to buy a genuine camera module to get the crypto chip...

thanks @jamesh and @6by9 everyone, you back up my initial concerns about compability, which is why I've bought the v2 camera in the meantime (only after having read through the AWB off thread starting from the very beginning )

dankeschön, hermann. i've just realized that most m12 lenses already come with a low cut filter mounted, did you use the v2 NOIR board for the lens swap? did you generate custom lens tables to compensate for vignetting, CA, etc.?

not sure, these are the M12 lenses I bought, used and described in postings:

• 3.98°, most expensive (9$)
• 20°
• 65°
• 130°
• 1/3" 2.1mm 150 Degrees Wide Angle CCTV Lens IR Board M12 for AHD TVI CVI 1080P Security CCD Camera, link does not work anymore

I find the 1$/pc M12 extension rings very useful (for Pi microscope).

Yes, I label my Pi cameras with version appended by N for NoIR, see above image. The only v2 I have is NoIR. I only have one v2 and 7 v1s because they are much cheaper (6$ with free shipping) and mostly sufficient for me. Although I have to say I really like the raspivid boost (v2 can do 180fps vs 90fps v1 can do for 640x480) and even more the raspiraw boost, 1007fps videos (640x75 and 640x150_s) for v2 vs 665fps for v1 640x64 and 640x128_s (see link in signature for details).

I'm also interested in Arducam cameras to film conferences in small rooms.
I'm still investigating on the lens I should get, because 4mm seems much too small for my use.
