4 cameras per Pi Zero at 20fps each via I2C switch ...

Sun Feb 25, 2018 8:59 pm

I heard about that yesterday on "Pi and More 10½" conference in Stuttgart/Germany.
This is where the speaker talks about that I2C switch module from a Turkish company (video language German):

They have to use two Pi Zeros for their experiment that will be run on ISS.
Space is very constrained, they only have 10x10x15cm for eveything:

P.S:
I did give a 3min lightning talk yesterday myself (German language despite English title):
"500FPS: High Framerate Capturing For <20$ In Total"

I did send an email to Robin, who gave the talk on the I2C switch, asking for details.
I also mentioned that my reseach showed only IVPort and arducam systems.

Just got feedback from Robin:
  • multiplexer is actually an IVPort
  • had delivered quite good results contrary to the reviews, first
  • they had problems with the final tests
  • sometimes not possible to control more than one camera

This confirms the bad reviews on I2C switches for Raspberry cameras I found in this forum.
