NoIR Infrared Camera Board v2.1 with 940nm LED

Thu Jul 28, 2016 9:41 am

I am using NoIR camera v2.1 and a IR Led Light source with 940 nm (1W). In the dark when camera is pointed to light source, I can see the whitish/purple glow. When visible light is illuminated, I can capture that one also. I would like to know if there is any particular mode in which the camera can capture only IR and exclude visible light? Please let me know

Thanks in advance

I think you would need to fit an IR pass filter.

there are cheaper ways eg exposed film.

Hi,
When the Light is passing through the material which can allow to pass through the IR lights,
do we have any setting to be checked for NOIR camera?

The software settings are exactly the same for regular Pi camera, and Pi NoIR camera, in fact there is no way to tell in software which kind of camera you have. The only difference is the NoIR camera has No IR-blocking filter, so it can see IR. You can add a visible light blocking filter so you see only IR, but again the software has no way to tell (other than the image is overall darker if there was some visible light to begin with, since with IR-only filter the visible light is gone).
