Peep-hole / fish eye lens for door

Sun May 01, 2016 11:17 am

Hi,
I have a Pi connected to a peep-hole camera that is mounted in my door to see who is outside.
I found the camera on AliExpress and it need an USB video adapter to work but what I do not like about it is the low quality. I have tried to find something better but failed.

Is there a way to use the Pi's camera module, in a good way, to see who is on the other side of a 50 mm (2 inches) thick door?
The problem seem to be a combination of 50 mm thick door and fish eye lens.
I live in a rented apartment so I cannot start cutting up the door.

I talked to someone at waveshare.com, which have some stuff like that, but they could not help me.

What happens when you hold your phones' camera in front of the peephole? If you get a workable image the camera module will work as well.

I tried to put the Pi camera into a normal peep hole but that did not give a very nice image. Some might have called it ok, but then I could just keep my current solution. I'm looking for better quality.
