The Dreaded error: No data received from the sensor

Tue Apr 12, 2016 1:12 pm

I just received my camera module and I started messing around with it, no problems at all.
Then I decided to change the focus of the camera, removing the blobs of glue.
I applied super extra care and removed them using a cutter. After some work, I was finally able to move the lens.

Then I connected back the camera and...

mmal: No data received from sensor. Check all connections, including the Sunny one on the camera board
Checked all connectors, rebooted, re-enabled the camera in raspi-config, no changes. There are no scratches on the module, no visible damage. Is there anything else I can do?

Should I bite the bullet and accept that I was able to break my brand new camera in less than 2 hours?

you may have cabbaged it .
however I'd go for the switch everything off
re-plug all -
and re-boot

And if you've been messing around by the lens, then definitely include checking the little SUNNY connector from the module to the camera board - it doesn't take much to pop it off slightly.

SUNNY connector is in place, re-wired everything and re-booted, nothing changed.

HOWEVER I just saw a small scratch on the module:

Do you think it would be the cause? As far as I can tell, there are no tracks there, it seems it's just holding the component.
An emergency soldering could do the trick?
