Camera and Telescope Mirror

I have an 8" telescope mirror lying around (as you do) and want to mount the Pi camera board on a rig to do some astrophotography. If I remove the camera lens and mount the board at the mirror's focal length (well aligned) will it work ?

Yes it will work.

Here's my setup. Mount the camera on the pi case, remove the lens and fit an adaptor to suit the telescope
