Myth

Tue Sep 30, 2014 2:59 pm

I’m looking to connect with anyone with folks interested to use RPI with MythTV. Has anyone done that? Is it possible? What are limitations to expect? Recommended configs, etc…

TIA

Thanks, elatllat! I read 50 to 60 posts. From that read, interest has shifted a little to split up all the functions in Myth to devote a single Pi per function and then scale the functions to a good number of Pi's. Like maybe two Pi's for MySQL and then maybe 10 to 16 Pi's for transcoding. Maybe more.

This would mean using a bunch of RPI Compute Modules and a custom IO board. Hmmm. [Scratching my head for thoughts about how many RPI Compute Modules might be a good number for a first build...] Restricting thoughts to only recording, any thoughts about how many HD streams that one Pi could support before it is completely consumed?

I'll build a prototype bench. Snooping for a connector so the RPI Compute Modules don't have to lay down on the IO board.

TIA

I think you should be able to do it with one pi, but only one 1080p stream at a time.
