Vuzix iWear and Raspi?

Has anyone tried out any of the Vuzix glasses with the Pi yet?

You can pick up the Wrap 280 Widescreen glasses (battery powered and composite RCA input) for £99 new but the res is only 384x240

The VR920 is 640x480 res and can be found for about £180 on Amazon which is a little more usable

They've both got fairly poor reviews but I've got some crazy ideas for making wearable computing with my Pi so I can probably stretch to £99 for experiments

At 3oz weight (less with a bit of stripping down) and 6 hours from batteries it could be a starter for a wearable Pi.

I'm going to do a little digging on how they are constructed as I might be able to pull them apart and make a tiny monitor (iPod nano screen sized) using just one of the LCDs for an icon-based display.

Should be getting my Pi from Farnell next week so will post my experiment results here

To start answering my own question, this is what a pair of vuzix glasses disassembled looks like:

Also, there a whole load of Chinese clones available on ebay so 640x480 looks to be available with RCA composite input for around £150.

Having looked a bit closer, these screens are tiny and far too small to be useful outside the glasses.

Am wondering if it would be possible to make a filp-down monocle out of these glasses?

I wear glasses already so with a strong pair of frames it might be possible to have a flip-down HUD monocle (non-transparent) based on this technology.

nice stuff

please keep on updating, my iwear vr920 is currently on its way from germany to the us to be fixed, but when it returns i too plan to "play" with it on the pi.
i'll keep watching this space!
