The project that never came out... The Slurpr!

Thu May 17, 2012 3:49 pm

Hi,

This would be a neat little project for the RPi, if someone is interesting.

Just plug in two WIFI-cards to the USB ports and your computer to the ethernetport.
Would this be possible? I mean, the RPi is a BIT more powerful then The Slurpr! And maybe add more WIFI-cards if you connect an USB-hub to the RPi?

Interesting idea. It's ultimately going to be relying on a single USB bus so you're going to face a bottleneck on traffic speed.
Dear forum: Play nice ;-)

I know that this depends on the speed that the USB-ports of the RPi is capable. Just a wild guess, what speed do you think will be possible? I haven't received my RPi yet to I can't try this out.

Its coming along. Ended up using a RPI 2 B and a RPI ZERO since the openwrt/adafruit community was 0 help.
I am using the RPI Zero to drive the piTFT on raspbian which connects to the RPI 2 B (running OPENWRT with mWAN) via wifi (will use UART once complete) to pull the variables that are displayed on the piTFT.

I plan on adding leds to the front of the case to display mwan status up or down, not sure what the bottom leds will be used for yet.... More work and more to follow:

I still need to finalize the internals (UART connection and LEDs)
Sand and repaint the outside
Add " piSplurpr! " stickers to the outside in white + various other labels
Find a clean easy way to power both usb ports at once.
