So this idea will probably be covered by the XBMC project but I thought I"de put it up anyway, to see if there are any different ideas. I've also never used XBMC so i'm not completely aware of its functionality.

I was thinking it would be cool to have the Pi hooked up to my TV to play media from my nasbox or act as a SmartTV type device for watching catchup TV etc. I assume this is covered by XBMC?

Secondly I could have the device directly connected to my speakers, say through the audio jack. With this I could play music from my nasbox and perhaps stream online radio. Again I think XBMC might be able to do this? It would be great to not require my TV be on, so that I could use a mobile device to select the content I want to play/stream.

So what are peoples ideas regarding this?

Thanks

EDIT: this has probably been posted loads of times before, so sorry for that.
