I have recently gotten a pico projector, it has a usb input on it for connecting it too a PC so you can use it as a monitor, I am about to start on seeing if I can get it to work with my Raspberry Pi, if you can help steer my in the right direction (and save me a lot of time failing) then please read on.
The projector is a TEC PP-700 (http://www.ishopiwin.com/en/appliances- ... p-700.html) it has linux on-board it (although I have no idea about any specifics), a Micro SD Card slot and a 2.0 USB on it's back, when you plug it into a windows PC via USB it shows up as two external drives, one of these is for you put media on it's on-board memory and the other contains an installation package called "EZ display v3.01" which is the software/drivers needed to us it as a monitor for your PC.
I have plugged it into my Pi using an external power source and the two drives are mounted and their content displayed, the projector also go's into "PC Mode", so this first step seems promising as they seem to be OK talking to each other on a basic level. I then checked what would happen if I connected it to a linux desktop (I had Ubuntu running on another computer), as I plugged it in the projector when into "PC mode" for a few seconds and then a green screen with grey lines was projected, I later read that this is a good sign and has been referred to as "the green screen of success".
I then started reading up to see if what I was going to try and do had already been done, at first google was giving me lots of things to read about "DisplayLink", I read a lot of articles about it but I don't think that's what I’m looking for. The most promising links I’ve found are these two: http://ao2.it/en/blog/2012/01/18/usb-pr ... -libam7xxx and http://ao2.it/en/blog/2012/03/30/open-s ... projectors.
All I have done so far is read articles and preform the basic tests I have already described, I have a few days free and am going to spend them seeing if I can get this working. If you would like to help my with this then please reply, or even if you have any advice/tips to help me set off in the right direction then please let me know.
If you need any more info or maybe some photos/video please just ask.
Thanks!
Simon.
