Re: Qt 5 Alpha

Qt Labs releases Qt 5 alpha - http://labs.qt.nokia.com/2012/.....t-5-alpha/

Since Qt 5 will be ported to the R-Pi, this may be interesting to those who want to use this framework.

Qt rocks the socks off a sloth.

There"s also the Qtonpi project (http://wiki.qt-project.org/QtonPi) which aims to provide tighter integration with RPi on both the toolchain end and (I hope) the QtMobility side (HIL), which would be nice.

I like the idea of Python as a learning tool, but between QML and Javascript, Qt makes a great platform too.

sorry for going offtopic for a moment, but this has been bothering me for two days: is that good or bad?

I mean, rocking someones socks off is good, but sloths are renowned for the (lack of) speed. Generally when used descriptively it means lazyness, which is considered bad.

So, please help me, vallidor, you're my only hope!

At the risk of sounding a pedant, I would be less than impressed if someone literally 'rocked my socks off' – it strikes me as a time consuming and repetative process. In addition, I suspect that the geometry of a sloth''s feet would soon put holes in any fabric footwear making it inpractical - which may explain why they choose not to use socks in the first place.

That said I am intruiged by Qt's use of the word 'embedded' – is QtonPi the closet thing to a Pi RTOS at present?
