Well, this didn't really seem to fit into any of the other categories, and I know it was talked about briefly in the physical design topic. So what would be some cool ways to make a case for the R-Pi?
I was thinking since an R-Pi is the size of a credit card that since one typically carries credit cards in their wallet that a wallet could act as a great case for this small computer (Watch out for pick pockets).
Or, to be more spy-like (By way of the cheesy spy shows like Get Smart), we could house the R-Pi in stuff like glue bottles, ketchup bottles, pop cans, cassettes, calculators, vhs tapes, cd cases, shoes, keyboards, hats, whatever.
Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
I'd love to fit it into a keyboard, along with an portable HDD.

You probably would have to modify it. And since the case is more expensive then the raspi, you can better make a DIY project out of it.

Inside an old retro computer case like a QL, Spectrum would be cool.
Any idea how to get an image in to the avatar?

You're right... a simple case isn't too difficult to build.

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
got the dremel, need dimensions

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
or you can make the case ultra sturdy if you just dunk the raspi in epoxyd...
Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
You can also just duct tape it to the bottom of a shelf or to the back of your tv. But that is not the kind of respect a raspi deserves.
Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
I'd be careful using duct tape, it tends to be electrically conductive (so taping up the bottom of the r-pi with it might have shocking results... it might cut your expectations for the r-pi short)

Dear forum: Play nice

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
not to think about ripping off some small components if you try to remove the tape after a while..
Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
being a quarter scottish and as the scots deep fry everything i'm pondering putting a R-Pi in a case filled with oil.

Not that it would need any cooling, but it would look nice

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
If you are going to actually immerse it you have a lot of work ahead there. I read an article about immersion. He had to seal all of the cans on the board as most of them had fiber seals on the bottom that became soaked and disintegrated. There were some other problems as well. The SD card would be the first worry. In the immersed pc the HDD's were not immersed. You would have to seal all of the connectors to the board. Next you would have to seal all of the connections into the connectors. It can be made to work. If you are serious I will try to find the article again for you.

Hey, since this is in the off-topic section, I've got an anecdote to share. I insist it's authentic, because it' more or less its only quality: at that Republican shindig Saturday in the US, there was a stand selling... deep-fried butter sticks.

they had a video piece about that on the morning news yesterday.
there is an english style fish and chip shop down the road from me and they do some nice deep fried deserts (deep fried mars bars, deep fried milky way, deep fried twinkies, deep fried suet based puddings......) and i've had deep fried haggis and deep fried blackpudding but deep fried butter just doesn't appeal

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
Isn't silicone oil the gunk of choice (no flash point - you can tell I cook for a living) for cooling these days? I don't think it makes a very palatable potato chip.

Re: Cases for the Raspberry Pi
the examples i've seen on the intertubes suggest mineral oil but i still think 30 gallons of lard would smell nicer
