Thought I'd share my first project idea: Project #1 = In-car video recording with engine data overlay

I've a dedicated trackcar which I use for racing. It's been my aim for a while to record the in-car footage. With the Raspberry Pi, my plan is to use this little computer to record in-car footage to a USB drive, with engine data overlay via an OBDII port.... aka a mega-cheap Racelogic V-box! Could also add GPS for real-time overlay of car poistion on a map and accelerometers for recording g-force in corners and braking!

You could use an (old) android phone + the torque app + bluetooth obd dongle

I have a Blackvue DR400G installed in my car

This records FULL HD 1920x1080 and records GPS position, speed AND G-sensor data in 3 axes - and it throws video out to my 7" Sat Nav screen

I'm going to use the raspi to send other info/apps to that screen
