Re: Raspberry Pi as an OPC Server

Has anyone considered an R-Pi as an OPC server for data collection? Using the GPIO connections it would make an interesting data capture device that could then feed data into any number of standard applications for analysis and storage.

I'm thinking here about higher level education, from 16 years upwards into under graduate work maybe?

Yes, I am thinking of setting up the R Pi as an OPC Server. My usage would be for electrical metering and the data would be stored and manipulated on the OPC server. I have already done this running and OPC server on Windows, but I am looking for a good way to integrate it onto a small system like the R Pi. Any ideas?

Sounds interesting :-)

What OPC server were you thinking of running on the RPi? I've only used them on Windows and not used any for Linux.

Even if this is an old topic, others may look for the same solution, as I did.

OPC used to be a Windows standard, but it has changed and a lot of tools,
including OPC server, exist for Linux based system. You could find much of
those here :
http://opcconnect.com/

Unfortunatly, most of them are propriatary (all of OPC and SDK there, are).

But I found this :
http://www.openopcua.org/
I didn't test it yet, but Rasperry Pi compatibility is specify, and it is
supported by a lot of big companies.

Hi,
you could use the CODESYS plc on raspberry, this gives you the possibility to access symbols by a OPC Client.
->on the Pi plc an OPCUA Server is embedded in the plc runtime.

I have problems, when i try run this programs, at QX output "merah_0" has "TRUE" value in client, and i try to connect with raspi, but at gpio raspi can't switch on the lamp.
I use opc ua client and server to communicate all of them and used 4diac to build a program
