hey guys, planning on making a touchscreen overlay unit for my car, want to no some peoples thoughts if it would work or maybe even some ideas?

with he two connections for the usb on the pi i would have
1 Bluetooth dongle to connect my phone to feed the information
1 input from the touchscreen overlay into the pi
and power from the cig lighter in the car through usb to power the unit,
on the sd card could i run the software for the overlay and the bluetooth software?

so basicly i will have a little wireless touchscreen computer that interacts with my iphone in the car,
will this work as simple as i think it will?

the iPhone will project video to the cars screen through the 30 pin connector that is currently connected to the headunit, via rca from that when i press the screen/ swipe it will show up as a giant iPhone in theory.
when i touch the screen the signal will shoot down into the pi then through the bluetooth into my phone telling it what to do then to display it back to the screen.

sorry if i confused anyone lol

any ideas, will this work or am i wasiting my money?

Thanks

This is something I'm currently intending to do, however given that I'm new to the Pi and car multimedia solutions in general it's much a stumble in the dark xD

I have a Corsa C with the double DIN mount in the centre console. My intention was to buy a fascia plate and just build a mount for a 7" screen into it (will need to double check the measurements on this one) I was intending to purchase this: http://www.chalk-elec.com/?page_id=1280 ... d=14647630

Has the added advantage of having a touchscreen though the price isn't exactly all that cheap.

Never actually thought about the USB Bluetooth so that's something I can look into as well - however I was going to store my media on an external hard disk drive and just install XMBC on the Pi.

Audio out would go to a two channel amp in the boot and then to the appropriate front and rear speakers. I'll try and keep some sort of blog/record of information for people that may think this is an awesome idea in the future.
