I want to build a peephole cam with Raspberry pi

Sat May 18, 2019 7:31 pm

Hey guys, how's it going?

I'm new here and a bit at a loss and need some guidance/help. I wanted to get a peephole cam for my door, but all buyable stuff doesn't really satisfy me so I got some kind of brain fart to build my own with Raspberry pi modules.

And here's the problem, I don't know which modules/parts would be the best to work in combination with this https://images.app.goo.gl/GnH9UaZJmHk5ntzW7.
It would be awesome if you could lend me a hand in which modules/parts I need or if you have other suggestions.

I also looked for similar stuff like this https://images.app.goo.gl/qUSgfWa3JcTbFdULA but couldn't figure it out which connectors I would need in combination with a Raspberry pi.

One of many reasons why I want to use a Raspberry pi is because I can also incorporate it into my home network with Pi-Hole and as a proxy server etc.

Thank you guys for taking your time in reading this.

Kind regards

The camera you picked uses analogue or composite video, and that is not something a RPI can interface to out of the box. Look for a similar camera that is USB. That will plug straight in to the RPI.

Or you can use a Composite Video encoder hat like https://www.electronicsweekly.com/blogs ... i-2016-09/
..the only thing worse than a stupid question is a question not asked.
