Re: Looking for a cheap, mini (handheld) USB powered keyboard and with trackpad

I'm looking for a mini USB powered keyboard with a trackpad incorporated, much like the following:

(source: http://www.dealextreme.com/p/h.....-904435354)

With two important differences:

1. it should not be wireless, but wired (USB)

2. it should take its power from the USB plug, not from a battery

Does anyone have any idea whether such thing exists? If you could point me into the right direction, that would be excellent.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Something like this?

Hmm, I can see how that matches my description. Thanks a lot for the help.

I don't want to be picky, but I would seriously prefer a wide keyboard. I did not expect such "square-like" device to show up.

A wider and less tall form would be much more appropriate for my device (I would like to put this keyboard under a small LCD screen).

It looks like you can charge the DealExtreme wireless keyboard from the USB port, why not have the charging cord permanently connected? You would lose one port though.

I could do that, but the keyboard is almost as expensive as the Raspberry Pi. I assume it would be much less expensive without the bluetooth dongle + feature.

I was looking for USB trackpad keyboards yesterday.

http://www.amazon.co.uk has loads, as does http://www.ebuyer.com

I've just looked again. Some of them are smaller than full-size, but I could find no really tiny ones without wireless.

If on your search, you find a full-size USB keyboard with both a touchpad and a USB hub, let me know. They don't do that either.

I very much like that. I saw it on TigerDirect a while back. I could sit in bed and play with my Pi!  I could even use the laser pointer to coax the cat off the bed when he tries to bump-mark the keyboard out of my hands.
Only one question... what the hell happened to F9-12?

The difference at that shop is that it's 3 times as expensive: http://www.tigerdirect.com/app.....;CatId=537
