I think it's a great job, very nice.
You know how much could cost to manufacture one of these?
You can also design a USB hub that looks like the case?

Case looks good, if you have some proper 3d cad drawings i could work out a price per case, I would happily pay for a tool if enough people were interested.

I could get it made in any material even see through or smoked cases.

(Black would be very cheap)

I'm UK based so could no expensive shipping over weeks from China etc.

Hey Dreamy,

Very nice case, I like it.

May I ask what the chances of this going in to production are? Do you have any rough projection of costs? (I want to buy a case, but realistically, for a product that is circa £25 I don't want to spend £££s on the case).

Do you think you will be producing any? If so I definitely will be interested, like a few people I will buy multiple Pi's and will probably want the same case for all of them.

Please let me know what your plans are.

Alan.

Sorry for my long silence but we expected our first copy for validate the project.
After a long series of test we decide to change the project with the Iceberg Case 2.
It will not be low cost but high quality all aluminum.
This will solve all problems related to heat but also allow you to have a solid case to keep your raspberry as long as possible.
The case is designed to remove heat from the CPU and the LAN controller with to two heatsink that extend from the top.
Heat transfer will be done with two Thermal Rubber.
We will make a first prototype of next week.

First picture new project

I preorder 2 cases on modmypi, around $13.17 USD each (total $26.34) including shipping. If you plan to sell this you better accelerate as there are others rushing making all sort of cases.

I must receive the prototype today.
You can see the progress of the project on our blog.

Once we have a quote and time delivery for first production I would open a specific forum.
This box is not plastic so the price will probably not less than $ 30

might wanna look very similar although no heat sink capabilities like yours

price match is about right

Indeed this case allows to dissipate heat with aluminum housing.
We will use thermal pad for chipset broadcom and Lan controller.

The advantage is that the box can be open at all times on top.
I will send more pictures with the motherboard into the case Monday because I have not received the parcel from factory yesterday.

It already has that! The OK led is simply a LED connected to another GPIO, (set BCM2835 GPIO16 low to turn the LED on) and is in principle completely under software control!
Normally the kernel controls it to signal SD-card activity, or boot errors, but that can be changed, as its software.

Any plans for these cases to have access to the GPIO pins?

We will see this for the final version of the case.
A slot will be available on the side of housing
