NewsWall: A unique news reader solution

Sat Apr 13, 2019 2:47 pm

I created TR-NewsWall. What you need to know:

- It can combine Twitter + RSS + Instagram feeds into a single timeline.
- Has the ability to deliver "breaking news" as quickly as possible.
- Decouples the user from online tracking.
- Is implemented as a single binary server for RPi (~75 MB RAM).
- Works with practically all client devices (landscape + portrait).
- I think it is pretty. It doesn't feel like using an office/spreadsheet app.

More info + live server:

A lot can be done with RSS. For instance this line (added to rss.txt) will include Reddit's Raspberry Pi forum:

Code: Select all

https://www.reddit.com/r/raspberry_pi/.rss|25|reddit rpi|file/rpi-logo-256.png

This line will include the Hacker News feed (all 10+ upvotes):

Code: Select all

https://hnrss.org/newest?points=10|25|HackerNews|file/hacker_news300.png

Does Raspberry Pi Forums offer RSS support? Looked around but couldn't find anything.

This is how forum posts show up in NewsWall (2 screenshots):

For some reason the images don't seem to show up here.
Too bad.
The messages render really nicely. They are hosted (full res)
