Composite Screen Questions

I have some questions which probably everybody faces who thinks about getting an small LCD for his RPi.

What ist the maximum resolution which can go out over Composite?

I am looking for a screen between 3.5" and 7".

There is this one 3.5"-Display which every second person seems to get for his RPi.
But which resolution does it have?
I found different claims about that, but I believe they all are the same display and at least most of them have to be wrong:

That left me pretty confused. I mean 640x480 would just be great for such a small display if it was true.

I will be more than happy if somebody can give mit an advice on that. I would actually go up to 7" if it has a reasonable price, and not to crappy resolution.

I can say with great certainty that the maximum resolution of any of these screens is 640x480, for some it may be less.

Im using composite as I type, and the resolution is 656X416. I cannot change the resolution as there is only one option. You can find out what resolution you are running at (in Raspbian Wheezy) by going to File Manager--> Applications-->Preferences-->Desktop Settings--> Monitor Settings ( menu://applications/DesktopSettings .).

You might be able to mess around with settings in the config file (you can this by plugging your SD card into a card reader on a PC/Mac and going to the config file).
