Building a GPS tracker with Raspberry Pi

Hello everybody,
I want to build a standalone GPS tracker using Raspberry Pi Zero W.
My intent is to use a 3G Huawei USB dongle to transmit to a server (or something like that) the real time position every 30 minutes.
I have:
1. Raspberry Pi W and 1 Raspberry Pi 3 for prototyping
2. USB gps dongle VK-162
3. Neo-6m GPS Satellite Positioning Module Dev Board NEO 6M that has PIN or USB link.
4. 3* 18650 Battery pack
5. 5200 mAh powerbank with 5V/1A output
6. Huawei dongle e303

I'm quite new to raspberry world, could you help me? Do you have any tutorial or have news of a similar project?

I have a GPS tracker for my car

It used a GPS / GLONASS USB GPS /dev/ttyUSB0

I use perl to open /dev/ttyUSB0

I use a 3G Wifi / Mobile cell router and let the pi camp on it

or just use my iPhone

The perl script sends lat and lon to several servers

I prototyped what you described with a RPi Zero, a Huawei E173s modem (which is like an E303), and a GP-20U7 GPS module. I ordered a SIM card from Hologram (https://www.hologram.io) because they were offering a developer plan of 1 Mbyte per month for free. I just wrote a small Python program to read the GPS and send the data to Hologram's server via TCP, where it would route the message to an email address. The most nagging problem I had was trying to keep all the other Linux services on the RPi from jumping on the network connection and using up that 1 Mbyte immediately.

I would have no problem sharing my work with anyone, but I did it before Hologram provided a Python SDK for interfacing to their system. If I had to do it over again, I would have used the SDK. On their website, they have information on interfacing a RPi Zero to an E303 modem (https://projects.hologram.io/hologram/c ... dem-d870fc). However, if you don't already have that modem, you should consider Hologram's Nova modem.
