Hi JF002.

Yeah I found those settings while trying to figure out how the calibration tool works and what it supposed to do. I set my deactivate_slack to 6, default was 4 and it seems to have made the screen a little more smoother. Other settings didn't seem to do anything, even when sending stupid values like 500.

I read you run this code to calibrate if it gets out of control on the ubuntu forums.

Code: Select all

for i in /sys/bus/hid/devices/*:1B96:*/calibrate
do
echo 5000 > $i
done
But I can't find a calibrate directory anywhere in /sys

I tried to compile rafiyr's latest module against my kernel, but it wouldn't load. so no luck there.
I'm doing this on standard x86 linux though, not the ras, it's just too slow. When I get good results then I transfer my findings to the ras to see if it works. So far so good :)

In general I've got mine to work pretty good and would seem the norm on linux. When you see all the fancy multitouch videos everywhere, don't be fooled. They only show you the good bits and not all the annoying stuff we're trying to smooth out!

I might also add that my Acer 10inch iconia tab running HORIBLE ANDROID,( peh spit yuk) doesn't work any better when it comes to touch so I figure I'm getting close :)

Has anyone thought of booting rasbmc with the touchscreen, it seems a more touch friendly interface and it is built on rasbian so will work with the drivers. Hoping for one of these for christmas!

Well... My initial reason for buying the touch screen was to have a in-bed-entertainment-system with xbmc.
This worked great but I always found myself tinkering with various X-related things and could never find the SD card with xbmc when needed so I bought an ASUS Transformer pad TF700T instead ;)

But xbmc seems to be designed for keyboard/remote control usage rather than touch screen since only "klick" events are supported, not swipe etc...

I've finally received my 10" kit as well and being able to have it working in a very short time. Followed also the sw update and it seems to work quite well, even if I've still to test it in depth.

One remark I have is that I find the display very dark. In the seller's website there is a guide about how to manual control the brightness, but it needs some hw modifications.
Is this just a problem I'm facing, or is it widely seen? Is there a way to control the brightness via sw?

thanks

gm

My display is pretty much on par with my Asus Transformer TF700T - which has one of the best, if not the best, display on the market.

The display comes with a light sensor attached that I still haven't given much focus... Perhaps that's a source of config?

I was about to put my 10" panel in my car but I'm reluctant to test the bottom level of working temperature right now... It's -13°C at the moment outside and I bet it'll brake if I try... Such is my luck this year of 2012 when the 10 plagues (or more) of Egypt landed in my lap... :p

That's just what I was thinking, but I cannot figure out how to avoid its possible interference.
Or what to do to it in order to increase the brightness of the display.

It's like having a muscle car in the garage and not being able to drive it on the road due to a broken gate... :?:

I'm playing around with the touchscreen and the screen is... noisy! It makes an annoying whistle that changes with color distribution . Why? :?:

That's odd?...

Perhaps you have a broken power supply? Check your ground (gnd) connectors and make sure that your power supply is ok. It's the first time I've heard anything like this to be honest and I use my display pretty much for everything.

hi! The power supply is new and came with the screen... How can I test if its functioning properly? Sorry for my newbie questions. What should I check on the GND and where? Its pretty annoying ;) Tack!

Did any of you had any success in running JavaFX examples with the touch panel?
http://jdk8.java.net/fxarmpreview/javaf ... eview.html
the inputs apparently screw the apps up ;(

I've been using java with jogamp and OpenGLEN (Open GL enabler) with touch controls which works just fine.

OpenGLEN is a product made by a colleague and very good friend of mine and I help out as often as I can.
I'm nearly finished with a step-by-step instruction how to get OpenGLEN running on Raspberry Pi and I will supply pre-compiled binaries for JOGAMP (jogl and gluegen) for those who for some reason can't/won't/etc build their own libraries.

For those who want to start with OpenGLES in java without knowledge of the underlying graphics API, have a look here https://github.com/rsahlin/OpenGLEN

It's one of the fastest implementation I've seen - id not the fastest!
It's developed with professional BDD methodology with regards to test and comes with examples.

Happy coding!

thank you very much, that sounds awesome of you!

But, can you help a noob in understanding how this relates to my problem? This is not clear to mee at the moment but apparently it is for you! ;)

Why is JavaFX not working with this touchscreen? How can using jogamp and OpenGLEN help solving this problem?

when I try to run the examples, the application runs (but I can't control it) and I get this output :

Code: Select all

ES2Pipeline: OpenGL ES 2.0 embedded device detected
glGetError 0x500
Thank you very much for your contributions!

Hi guys,
it would be nice to be able to use the touchscreen with the flexibility of JavaFX.

Right now it doesn't work ( for me), and I wrote on the JavaFX JIRA issue tracker system.

It would be nice of you if you can try to replicate the issue and comment (and vote up) to help getting this fixed : http://javafx-jira.kenai.com/browse/RT-27972

I ordered the 10" touch screen from Chalk-Elec and got a broken LG screen LP101WX1 SL B1.
Don´t even know if it´s a touch screen. LP101WX1 SL B1 sold on Aliexpress claims it is NOT touch.
Does anyone know what screenmodel it should be for this setup :?:

Has anyone managed to modify the ntrig drivers to change the touch event to a MouseDown event? Or to get global multitouch functionality out of this?

hi

i have this display too and i want to make a tablet from raspberry

does anyone make any progress with optimizing touchscreen drivers?

i made deb packages of ubuntu onboard virtual keyboard (https://launchpad.net/onboard) and it works fine
here is instuctions to compile onboard for raspberry pi
first you have to download source codes for onboard and python virtkey module from launchpad, you can directly download them from launchpad https://launchpad.net/onboard https://launchpad.net/virtkey an decompress them or use bzr:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install bzr
bzr branch lp:onboard
bzr bzanch lp:virtkey
you have to make deb from onboard because make and make install works but it cannot start because it is searching some schemas in wrong way
so you have to install devscripts

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install devscripts
in terminal go to virtkey directory and execute

Code: Select all

mk-build-deps
this create dummy package which contains dependencies needed for compilation and then install it and resolve dependencied

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i virtkey-....deb
sudo apt-get -f install
you can remove this package

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -r virtkey-....deb
now you can start building deb package
in folder virtkey do

Code: Select all

debuild binary
install package python3-virtkey and check dependencies

Code: Select all

sudo dpkg -i python3-virtkey....deb
sudo apt-get -f install
do this for onboard folder too
now you can start onboard from "start" menu

My experience with Chalk-Elec. Good idea, bad product support/QA and provisioning!

1. Took me 9 months to finally get it. (after countless emails, with very little responses
Took me escalating the issue, and being very rude to get them to respond.

2. Once received, (early december 2013) the hdmi converter power regulator overheats approx. 3 minutes after power up. I put heat sink on it, it last longer, but inevitably the screen starts flickering black screen to normal about once a second.

They will not respond whatsoever after a handful of emails reporting the faulty situation since, and I only received 1 out of the 2 monitors we ordered. Ugh! Please be warned.
