Hi All just thought I add a post showing a simply setup for night vision goggles
I use the new sexy Zero W(previously used the standard zero and wifi adpter), a NOIR Camera with Ir Modules, 2600Mah Power bank, CHEAP VR goggles and some 3D printed parts. and a smartphone as the View screen in the vr goggles(we use an old samsung s2)
The software used can be found here and is easy to get setup and running.... And as yet found nothing any better.
App used on Phone is Iplay pro (https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ypro&hl=en)
Again found nothing else thats better as only one that has web browser you can actually enter a web address so you can use the Raspberry pi Cam software
All in all it works great. Over time there is a little lag of around half a second but it does work and has been used on a night walk with out incident. 2600mah battery(flat powerback found easily on ebay etc) provides between 2-3 hours of power but thats only because thats the longest we have ran it. after a while it can feel a little heavy to wear but hey this is just a quick and cheap setup.. Parts had been glued using Epox as provides better strength etc and wrapped camera cable with single layer of duct tape to proved extra protection..
We also found using an IR torch can boost the distance the camera can see as well so for a few pounds its worth buying one but is NOT necessery ...
Visual range with IR modules is about 10-12 meters add the torch to this and will boost it to around 20 meters.. Well the torch we used does this so there may be better ones you can use.
We like it and as said already, it works and works well for what it is...
As time goes on there may be a few tweaks here and thereand will update this with them as they happen..
We are now looking at using 3.7v lipo batterys using a TP4056 1A Lipo Battery Charging Board with a switch etc so will keep you all informed.
Am sure some of you may have a suggestion or two to improve it so feel free to ask or make suggestions.. As they are all very welcome.
