Apple Cinema Display

Fri Aug 31, 2012 6:10 am

Hello! In my family we got a Cinema Display, to connect it you need a mini display port which the Pi certainly not have(Understandable).

That's why I'm asking you: Is there any good HDMI to MiniDP that you know that doesn't cost too much? Otherwise I'll have to connect to my TV :/

Hmm, Google keeps pointing me back to things that'll let you use an HDMI display with a MDP ouput, but you want the opposite.

I'd ask the folks at monoprice.com, they have a lot of things, but again searching takes you to the opposite one.

Going the "wrong way" with HDMI out to DP instead of DP out to HDMI in is fairly difficult, but I know of:
http://www.kanexlive.com/xd
But it only works with 2 Cinema displays and is still kind of expensive
{sig} Setup: Original version Raspberry Pi (B, rev1, 256MB), Dell 2001FP monitor (1600x1200), 8GB Class 4 SD Card with Raspbian and XBMC, DD-WRT wireless bridge

Thank you booth. Yeah, I´ve heard of the Kanex but it costs 149 USD (And shipping to Sweden costs a bit too...).
Although I´ve found a nice 1080p display for around 140 USD, with is a far better deal cause I will be able to plug in my Raspberry Pi to it and have it in my room. I´m so excited for November, my RasPi will be arriving then.

I found this when searching for a solution to using my old iMac G5 screen as a display for my Pi.

I have just thought of a name for Raspberry Pi/iMac project PiMac!!, probably get in to hot water off Apple for that though!!

Haha cool! But I guess that tutorial is for people above my age. A bit at least. My family also got a G5 actually, did it work out for you?
