Tablet Laptop

Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:03 pm

(My First Post) I am trying to make a laptop tablet computer with Raspberry Pi 2. I think I need the following

Pi
Touchscreen
Keyboard with mousepad
case for touch screen and pi and camera
128 gb micro sd card
wifi adapter
camera
stylus pen

I need to know how to mount pi securely to the back of the touch screen 7" official.

I also need to know how to increase ram whether by more than one Pi or something else. I want it under #350 dollars right now with everything except mount and extra pi it is $282.95

Why do people continue to want to do this? Amazon is selling 7" tablets for $34.99. You can't touch that no matter what you build. Why not just get a tablet with a keyboard and connect that to the pi or more than one pi or whatever you want to use? Or get a laptop and flash it with Ubuntu or Debian or whatever you want to use and then add your pi or more than one pi or whatever to that?

Because its a fun project to do yourself, even if it costs more than a normal laptop. Its not to use, but to learn from.

That's not possible. You are limited to 1GB. Adding an extra RPi won't buy you anything because there's no way to get the two RPis tightly coupled and if they're loosely coupled you won't gain a thing.

According to this site http://bargainbriana.com/new-amazon-fir ... ust-34-99/ , the Fire tablet is a 1.3 GHz quad core with a gig of RAM. This should sound familiar because the various popular micro boards like the pi (or whatever) tend to use repurposed CPUs from tablets and smartphones. They are all computers. What else would they be?

Of course I can understand wanting a computer for the actual processing that you do where you've got root and can run Python 2.7, which will be the version that everyone uses in 2062 even though version 10.1 has been out for a decade.

But as I said, I wonder why people don't simply get the tablet and keyboard or the notebook and then connect it to the pi or whatever. They still have the pi, they just get the benefit of buying something that is in this market very over saturated, the tablet.

I'm sorry you are right about the tablet being a computer, but I would want a laptop because it run more functions than an amazon fire and my mom doesn't want me to buy a fire tablet.
