Hmm, that looks reasonable.

Try this (on the pi):

Code: Select all

python -c 'import requests; x = requests.head("http://www.google.com"); print x.status_code'
Replace "http://google.com" with your URL.
The code I get is 403

Im new to Rasp Pi....Have installed Screenly OSE using instructions on site. I can upload video files and get them to play on the screen, great. However, when I Ctrl + Alt + F1 and try and login, the username 'pi' and password 'raspberry' do not work -'Login incorrect'. Any advice? I am trying to login to configure a wifi adaptor to work with the pi.

I've noticed jpg's have stopped working all together. I even tried downloading the latest pre-built image to a new SD card, but the result is the same.

For the time being I have had to move my jpgs to a web server and display them using a URL asset.

Hello guys
I've just installed screenly OSE on a raspberry PI 2. It's OK :)

I've 2 questions yet:
1- How to arrange the sequence of the pictures displayed. Must I use an alphabetic order to named the pictures as I read on an old post ?
2- How to change text and logo picture of the first screen displayed (this with the Manage Ip adress) ? And how to reduce the time of display for this first screen (it's too long for me) ?
Thank you
Cyril.

Ok, that's the problem. The web server is blocking the connections from Screenly.

1) No you can re-order the list by simply dragging them around.
2) The easiest way to do this is to disable it entirely. You can do that in '.screenly/screenly.conf'. Just set 'show_splash' to 'False' (https://github.com/wireload/screenly-os ... ly.conf#L9).

Those are the credentials for Screenly OSE. Perhaps it has to do with the keyboard. Some keyboards (such as the Apple keyboards) do not work well with the Raspberry Pi.

I've downloaded and installed the OSE and working well. I require it to view an internal website page, the internal site is a sharepoint site with windows authentication.(ntml and kerberos)

If I access the site through chromium from the Pi it pops up the usual authenication box ( username and password). Good so far.

Hoewever when I access the webpage though uzbl-browser as a test it doesnt even prompt for a username and password, it goes straight to a 401 Unauthorised Error. (i was hoping to make use of the auth.py script to automatically set the username and password but cant if it doesnt )

Is there something I can do for this? It cant be the sharepoint site as its works as expected through chromium.

Thanks in advance.

Screenly (or rather the underlaying browser, UZBL), doesn't handle this kind of authentication very well. There is a workaround described here (http://www.screenlyapp.com/use-cases/da ... agios.html) that might work for you.

Hi,

I love Screenly, it's (almost) a perfect solution for me.

One question, is there a way of doing a Ken Burns effect on slides (pan/zoom whilst a photo is displayed)?

Thanks!

No, that's unfortunately not possible right now. Perhaps in the future, but it's almost impossible to do with the current browser. This is your best bet for that:

Thanks for the quick reply. But I cant create secret URL on the sharepoint site as its out of my scrope.
When I connect to the share point from chromium (from the pi) it pops up an authorisation box but with uzbl-browser( from screenly) or epiphany it doesnt pop up a box and fails immediately with 401 error. Any help if you could point me in the right direction would be very helpful

Thanks

No, not really unfortunately. It's not supported. The only workaround I can think if is to set up an intelligent proxy in front of the Sharepoint server that would authenticate and then reverse proxy, but it's not a very clean solution.

Is there some kind of link that we can create a custom portfolio for stocks and then display them in numbers and graphs?
Like google portfolio or. something?

Hello

I installed Screenly OSE on a Raspberry pi B+, it works perfectly, but after few hours running, the images and videos continue displaying on TV, but I lost web/ssh connection to the RPI.

Image OK
SSH DOWN
WEB (8080) DOWN
PING OK

What you think about that?

Hard to determine without logs. Please post the content of /tmp/screenly/*.log.

Hey guys,

Real quick: we currently have a campaign where give away Raspberry Pi-kits (Raspberry Pi 2, case, power kit, Micro-SD card etc) if you sign up for a 12 month plan of Screenly Pro.

You can order the bundles from here: https://goo.gl/OAneYV.

Thanks for all your support!

We really like Screenly for our internal screens. We prefer not to expose the screens to the web. Any plans to offer a server for management and content grouping? SAS works for most customers, I understand that. But those who are in a regulated environment would benefit from a strictly internal (non internet facing) deployment.
Aside from having to replace our SD cards after 1 year of use, Screenly has worked well for us. The population of OSE screens has reached a point where management would be a welcome addition.

Hi there,

Sorry, but we do not have any plans of either releasing a self-hosted version of Screenly Pro nor to add that to OSE (as it would cannibalize Pro).

Hi

I've been running OSE for a couple of months now, on an older Pi (not the Quadcore one, the one before that!). I love it!!

One thing I've noticed is that after several hours (there doesn't seem to be any set amount of time), the screen just goes black and we don't get any content displaying any more. I assumed it was memory, because we were displaying images as well as websites (weather) and videos that we had reduced in size using Handbreak.

The only work around I've managed to do was either to pull the power or as I have now done added a root CRON job to restart the device daily.

Is this a known issue?

Thanks

GD

GiraffeDog, isn't it the screen going off after a certain amount of time ?

If it is, try to add this line at the end of the /etc/rc.local file (above exit 0) :
sh -c 'setterm -blank 0 -powersave off -powerdown 0 < /dev/console > /dev/console 2>&1'

Hey guys,

Just wanted to post here that we're currently hiring one or two developers to join the Screenly team.

The job post is available here:
https://www.upwork.com/jobs/Python-Soft ... a16785957c

We'd love to have someone from the community join us. The candidate would work both on Screenly OSE and Screenly Pro.
