Sound capturing on RPi for OS X to record

Sat Oct 17, 2015 4:44 pm

Hi

I'm hoping to record about 120GB of audio from a mic (setup on a RPi). I have about 1TB of network storage available, but the host is running OS X. I see that aplay could do the job only if the remote server is running Linux ("arecord -D plughw:1,0 -f dat | ssh -C user@remoteip aplay -f dat).

AFAIK, there's no aplay on OS X (because of the lack of ALSA?). One alternative could be to get the RPi upload the dumps to the OS X server, but that could potentially be a hassle since the server may drop out and some convoluted recovery would be needed. Similar may apply if the network drive was mounted on the RPi.

Does anyone know what a simple alternative might be? Preferably I could do audio capturing on the RPi and record the capture on OS X.

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks
