Looking for case suggestions

Fri Sep 04, 2015 7:44 pm

I'm looking for a somewhat rugged case. I'm planning on getting my kids (ages 5 and 7) a Raspberry Pi 2 and they haven't exactly been gentle with computers in the past. I think they've learned their lesson after I refused to fix the last one they broke and it's time they had one for school. Basically I want a case tough enough that when it inevitably gets knocked off the desk the Pi will be unharmed. Can anyone suggest one?

Pi's are durable. Pi cases are for dust? The official cases look good but if it hits the floor the panels may fly off. There are pi cases that are clear which probably won't survive a fall. Why don't you try and Velcro a case to your table. I had my pi since Feb and haven't dropped it yet all the wires keep it stationary.

The old Pis weren't, there were a lot of reports of terminally damaged SDCard slots when the old full size SDcard hit the floor.

I've been through three clear acrylic cases already. The official case falls to pieces but it doesn't shatter when it hits the ground.

The Pi 2s survived anyways, they seem fairly tough to me.

Dropped one this morning. I've got a small crack on the top plastic next to the Ethernet (the slim case that exposes the USB and Ethernet half way), but that's it and the Pi works fine. Probably dropped it 4 or 5 feet onto hardwood. We'll designed case and I'm very happy with it.
