Re: Software for Children with Autism and Aspergers

I am the IT guy for a non-profit helping kids with Autism and Aspergers in terms of group homes, centers, and even schools.

While it might be a big project, I'd be interested in developing software that could help them utilizing the R-Pi as an inexpensive platform that I could essentially flash and give to the various centers or even parents for home use.

Very worth while.

How will you decide what to create?
Is there PC or Mac applications to show what has been tried before?

We've had someone post about those devices with a touchscreen displaying images that enunciate feelings and stuff.
If that's what you're thinking of, make sure you do take the total cost of the setup into account: once you add a touchscreen, a battery, loudspeakers, a rugged case for all that... a cheap-though-well-built tablet ($150 Lenovo A1 ? http://www.chinistore.com/en/t.....tooth.html) starts to look cheaper.
