Sheet Music Scroller

Two projects in and I am hooked and just finished third project, a 14" touchscreen to scroll through sheet music but to my horror the screen I paid so much for is too small even with screen rotated 90 deg. So to plan B, today pulled a 17" LCD from dead laptop. Understand I will need an LCD Controller Kit? But my question(s) are - since it's not a touchscreen, I still want to get rid of mouse and keyboard to handle page advancement or scrolling. I'll need a screen overlay kit and have two choices, resistive or capacitive. Like it to respond of course like a 17" tablet, so is it the resistive or capacitive screen that does it?

Thank you in advance,

Are two push buttons, connected with GPIO, perhaps a better option?
Push the switch for scolling a page forward or backward. Design a Python script for handling these events.

Better, a foot switch, preferably with battery and Bluetooth HID.

Thanks for the great comments. If only I were that advanced. Would just love for it to operate as a multi touch and understand you can buy overlay screens accomplish this. Feel that 's the route I should go cause it's gonna have to be fast and will need foot/feet to work pedal(s). Anywho????

Take a look at the MusicalPi project (viewtopic.php?f=41&t=169491) also on the forum. Somebody has already produced and documented something along these lines.

Whoa, talk about pointing in a direction. Should have one up and running by next month.

Thanks IanS and fellow makers,
