Hello,

I just tried to install this on a brand new Raspberry Pi Zero W with a 16GB microSD card and Raspbian Buster Lite. I saw on github that this was updated to work with Buster lite. The errors that I am getting are:

Code: Select all

E: Unable to locate package php7.0-mysql

ffmpeg-3.4.2 seems to have issues:

Code: Select all

Mysql seems to have erred as well:

Code: Select all

Step 4. Building and installing RoadApplePi
gcc raprec.c -o raprec -Wall -lmysqlclient -lm
raprec.c:34:10: fatal error: mysql/mysql.h: No such file or directory
 #include <mysql/mysql.h>

compilation terminated.

cp raprec /usr/bin
cp: cannot stat 'raprec': No such file or directory
make: *** [Makefile:8: install] Error 1
rm: cannot remove '/var/www/html/index.html': No such file or directory
sudo: mysql: command not found
Done! Please reboot your Raspberry Pi now
pi@DashCamPi:/RoadApplePi $
Can these be installed separately? Or does anyone have an idea as to how to get this working? Any help would be appreciated!

Hello John,

To use RoadApplePi with Buster, instead of typing:

Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/JVital2013/RoadApplePi

replace it with:

Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/matt2005/RoadApplePi
This repo has been updated to support Buster and Buster Lite for RoadApplePi. Then when you run

Code: Select all

cd RoadApplePi
 ./setup.sh
 sudo reboot
it should install properly. The old repo you're trying to clone from is trying to install old versions of php and mysql which don't work with Buster.

Hope this helps!

So, the RoadApplePi does not detect the Raspberry Pi Camera Module. When I examine the logs, it throws out V4L2 errors stating controls are not recognized. Has anyone been able to get a Pi Camera Module working with this? If so, could you point me in the direction of what I may be doing wrong?

Greetings,

I am so excited to this project off the ground. I bought all the devices and have big plans for it. However I’m confused while following your guide. When you say “ On another device, go to http://raspberrypi/. --Note: Your device hostname can be changed by running sudo raspi-config on your pi. I've changed mine to "roadapplepi". A feature to change this from the web app will be added in the future”, how do you access http://raspberrypi/ from another device? Everything installs correctly and I’ve followed every step up to that point, but I cannot move on without connecting. Should there be a web server program running in the background that allows me to connect or am I missing something? Both my laptop and pi can connect and I have physical and SSH connection so I’m not sure what I’m missing. Thanks!

UPDATE: just saw the post about using Matt’s version in order to work with Buster and I can now access it. However, now I’m having issues accessing the AP once I set it up. The AP does ant show up on my laptop’s network list.

Awesome work.

How do I support this project?

Items of interest for me:
1. Multi camera - even if it means multiple Raspberry pis;
2. GPS integration (Bluetooth);
3. Auto-connect to SMB share for storage of recordings and associated data (GPS, ODBII, etc.);
4. Integration of 4g dongle for internet sharing (possibly via additional wifi dongle).

Thanks!

I hope to resurrect this project...doing my own power manager that will turn on/off the pie.

The SMB upload would be a nice feature as soon as I get the hardware done today I will post some pictures. I plan to take the roadpi on the road for my first 500 mi drive.

Hi.

Is anybody still following this ?

I've just built one, but cannot connect to it. I can SSH to it fine, but "RoadApplePi" with or without ".local" have no communication with it at all. Nor does trying to go in with the ip address.

Ideas please ?

Chris

Has anyone gotten GPS and time overlay working with this? I have a script working without the raprec starting but it only records H.264 and those don't pull up in the browser.
