Well like many people i upgraded from the original xbox as a media centre to raspberry pi. I was using a punnet style case but there were too many wires on show so i used my old case.

Here is the cheapest case and media centre poor people could have.

xbox case - free
ide hdd - free as i already had one in my xbox
xbox ir remote - free
belkin 7 port usb hub - £10
ide to usb with power supply - £10
2 x usb extension cable - £2

Curious how did you get the xbox remote to work? Did you just match the pinout of the xbox connector with a USB cable? Considering doing this myself wondering what the best way about it is, also would love to see if there is some way to hook up the xbox power button to the board or maybe not the board.

Connect the Switch and the power supply to a relay or something maybe so when pushed it connects the power supply to the board

the xbox port is actually a usb port (just ignore the yellow wire.
so i chopped a usb cable and joined it.

i tried to get the xbox to power without a motherboard in but i couldn't get it to work so i just bought the ide to usb cable that came with a power source
