Car Multimedia System

Sat Jun 14, 2014 10:16 am

I posted a youtube movie online, which has a Raspberry Pi running in a car to serve as multimedia system.
Wanted to do this for a long time and not many people have proven it to be possible.

That's pretty nice. Do you have a writeup of how you put it all together?

I use a cigarette lighter plug that converts it into two USB ports and two cigarette light plugs.
That way i can charge my phone with the USB and use a micro-usb adapter in one of two cigarette lighter plugs, to power the RPi.

The RPi is running openELEC and boots when car ignition is turned on.
The analog audio output is connected to the head unit.

The screen is a cheap monitor made for cars and runs on 12V from the battery (wires are fed through the dashboard).

If i want to use PS2, i use a power converter which converts 12V to 230V and then plug in the PS2 adapter. The PS2 can't be used with the splitter, because it draws too much current.
