Touch-capable screen modules?

Tue Apr 08, 2014 1:37 am

Hello All,

Ive been using the Rpi for a while, mostly for small home projects.

Im interested in finding out if anyone has looked in to screen modules that are touch capable. Perhaps through HDMI, but Analog + GPIO will be fine also.

What im trying to do is build(rather, plan to build) a 7 inch touch screen stereo to replace my cheap generic 7 inch one that i currently have installed. Its double-din.

Id like to do it from scratch using modules rather than pulling apart already made products(like a disassembled tablet). Reason being that id like to read the(usually included) schematics, learn, and wire up the project myself. Perhaps out of my depth here but theres only one way to learn :-)

Finally, id like to design a case that holds it all together. This is primarily why i want a module screen, as they usually have mount points that i can utilize.

Any comments welcome.

I have built a touch-capable 7" screen that works via HDMI. Have a look here:

I have used both the Mimo and the Lilliput 7" USB touchscreens with the RPi. See http://www.instructables.com/id/Wall-Mo ... pberry-Pi/ for details on using the Mimo.
