Create Custom Boot Logo

Wed May 23, 2012 10:09 am

Hey Guys,

I'm going to be using the Debian Linux Distro for a project I'm working on at the moment and require that we use our Logo while the device boots (going to be connected to a TV and Powered from said TV).

Can anybody assist on how to have Debian display this logo during boot?

Thanks

In answer to your original question it would appear you need to recompile your kernel

I think the OP wants a splash screen, not a logo, so splashy should be just fine.
From the wikipedia article: "it runs completely in userspace and therefore doesn't require any patches to the OS kernel" .

Great - I'll try compiling Splashy this weekend and see what I can cook up! Thanks

Splashy requires DirectFB, which hasn't been ported to the RasPi yet, but the DirectFB team are working on it (so they say!)

EDIT: I may actually be wrong, I could've sworn I read that somewhere - I did try and install it on my Pi but couldn't (for a reason I can't remember)

You can do this with something called 'fbi'.
I've blogged about it here:
