Slideshow with transitions effects

Wed Nov 20, 2013 11:11 pm

Hello ppl!
(yay, my first post here :) )
I`m quite new in Rpi, with python (and a bit of c/c++) background. Now I need to make simple slide show with transitions effects (just wipe/fade) from set of images and vids. Main idea is that all I will put files on server, rpi will downolad them, make slideshow and play it. Downloading is done BUT. I`m stuck at creating slideshow. I need simple command line app to:
1. make slide show w/ transition effect and mix with vid player (omxplayer does the job)
OR
2. make slide show from images and vids AND then play it.

AD 1.
Only img viewer I found was pqiv (I`m quite noob at searching), but '-F' dosnt work (even if images was same size).
Sooo, is there any command line viewer that will do it?

AD 2.
I wanted to use dvd-slideshow (got from http://pkgs.org/debian-wheezy/multimedi ... l.deb.html and rest required packages) BUT! After simple configuration:

Code: Select all

dvd-slideshow -n small_slide -mp2 -L -f /home/pi/Desktop/PySlide/test_images/dss_input.txt -o /home/pi/Desktop/ -s 352x220
I`m stuck at:

Code: Select all

[dvd-slideshow] dvd-slideshow 0.8.4-1
[dvd-slideshow] Licensed under the GNU GPL
[dvd-slideshow] Copyright 2003-2011 by Scott Dylewski

[dvd-slideshow] Ignore [mpeg2enc] warnings (usually)
[dvd-slideshow] Temp dir is /home/pi/Desktop/dvd-slideshow_temp_8626
and nothing happens. No error, rpi do nothing (I`m in headless mode atm, but BUSY led is dead) for about 1h now. When I crtl+c it I`ve get:

Code: Select all

^C/usr/bin/dvd-slideshow: line 4877: /home/pi/Desktop/dvd-slideshow_temp_8626/dvdss-pipe-8626: Interrupted system call
/usr/bin/dvd-slideshow: line 1: 9905 Illegal instruction ffmpeg -threads "$cores" -f yuv4mpegpipe -i "$tmpdir"/$yuvfifo -target $ffmpeg_target -r $framerate -an -aspect $aspect_ratio -s "$dvd_width"x"$dvd_height" -y -bf 2 -f mpeg2video "$tmpdir/video.mpg" >> "$ffmpeg_out" 2>&1
[dvd-slideshow] cleanup...
/usr/bin/dvd-slideshow: line 713: kill: (9905) - No such process
when I use '-mp4' option, last debug line is:

Code: Select all

[dvd-slideshow] Exporting .mp4 file
So I think dvd-slideshow just stops at creating output file.
So, can anybody help me? :) I mean post any suggestions how to make dvd-slideshow works (I have rasbian on rpi) ar any alternatives for pkt 1 or 2 (or even nice python/c lib to create slide shows).
Tnx and much love :*

http://pkgs.org/debian-wheezy/multimedi ... l.deb.html

That is for the Intel x86 architecture, you must use packages specifically compiled for the Pi's ARMv6 Architecture....

Best to start from with a new image 25/09/2013 and only use correct packages, the Raspberry Pis foundation Raspbian Wheezy has been tweaked to run on the ARMv6 Architecture. If you use the GUI Desktop then installing Synaptic which is the Front End GUI for apt-get it will list availablbe packages with descriptions.

When installing from the command line always sync first then install package:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install xxxxxx

Also have a look at the following projects related to Slideshows etcetera:
