Raspberry sound card

Tue May 04, 2021 12:35 pm

Hi everybody,

I am working on voice recognition project and want to send input audio and receive output audio from my raspberry zero. Do I need a sound card to do this? Can anyone recommend suitable sound cards?

I was using currently Google AIY voice bonnett, but my raspberry zero (when I run pi lite or diet pi software) does not see the microphone for some reason. The system is working fine on exactly the same setup with raspberry software desktop version. So I wanted to try an alternative audio device. Can anyone recommend anything?
Sorry of the question is too obvious. It isnt obvious for me.

Thanks!

A link to a discussion about the voice-bonnet driver here:

There are a lot of devices to choose from, even simple USB audiocards could be useful for you if they have the in/out plugs you are looking for.
But PiZero isnt flush with usb-ports of course..

Finding a "HAT" for Pi0 wit Audio In AND Out was harder than I thought....

Works fine with ALSA, en doesn't cost much.
