Timelapse machine with rotation

Fri Jul 24, 2020 3:16 pm

Hi,

I'm currently building "Timelapse" machine with new HQ camera and I'm kinda lost how to achieve slow smooth rotating.
Currently i got equiped Waveshare servro controlled by Waveshare Servo Driver HAT but its impossile to make it rotate really slow and smooth.

Any ideas how to achieve that? I've got tiny DC motor with gearbox as well (https://www.gmelectronic.com/dc-motor-w ... 2-n20va110) that might be smoother but no clue how to figure out the mount to camera on this one...

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

I built something based on this:

https://www.instructables.com/id/Arduin ... ontroller/

I can confirm it works well.
Mine will rotate a Gopro and a large DSLR.

Basic operation is that a 5V stepper motor and driver board (cheap off ebay) turns a larger wheel which turns a D shaft cut down from an old printer.
There are a couple of bearings and if I had to do it again, would have used flanged bearings that can be bolted in.

Did have to use a laser cutter, a lathe and someone more skilled than me in metalwork cut a 1/4" thread to mount the cameras.
Is this of any help?
