Hifiberry Power Supply

Tue Sep 17, 2019 9:41 pm

I was wondering why I can't find any answer to this question on forums, so I decided to ask it here:

Which power supply will I realistically need for a HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro?
Some say it's ok to use the normal Raspberry Pi internal power supply. Others say I should by a linear power supply for 300+$.
Will I get a significantly better sound with a linear power supply? Is a iFi power supply for ~50$ sufficient? Or even something like this: https://www.reichelt.de/schaltnetzteil- ... 37080.html ? Or should I buy an Audiophonics like this? https://www.audiophonics.fr/en/hifi-pow ... -9947.html Will a linear power supply waste more energy/ emit warmth?
Thanks in advance!

Just use the official RPi power supply and you'll be fine.

If an S/PDIF card can't cope with that it would be utterly broken (and, just to be sure, the Hifiberry cards as well as all other major brand cards seem to be well designed so that's not an issue here).

so long,
