WM8510 interfacing to RPi help

Tue Sep 10, 2019 3:35 pm

I'm working on interfacing a WM8510 codec to my RPi. It would appear that the ALSA driver is present, so the code hurdle should be done. The real issue I believe would be wiring it up correctly to the RPi. From the data sheet it presents an I2C interface and also digital in/out audio. I'm a bit at a loss on where to connect the digital audio to the pi. I get the I2C. Anyone have any experience with this codec? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I have exactly the same problem. I chose this IC(WM8510) into my HW because it is cheap and has both speaker with amp and microphone interfaces.
This is great for a compact project. But I still cannot figure out how to configure it into Raspbian.
Do you have any progress so far?
