Giant video wall for music video using 30 Raspberry Pis

Mon Jan 15, 2018 12:24 pm

Dear community,
we have built a giant video wall out of old CRT-TVs using 30 IP-connected Raspberry Pis and filmed that for a music video for a German newcomer band. The software used is called PiWall and it lets you distribute a video signal over an IP network to an unlimited number of Pis. The whole thing was done without any budget whatsoever. We would love you to watch it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p0FxumJ7_R4
Enjoy :)

Nice one.

I counted 24 screens; assuming one Pi per screen, what were the other six doing?
Being CRTs, were they fed PAL, or HDMI? The picture didn't stay still enough to assess their quality!
