H264 encoder capabilities of Rpi3 and Rpi2

Mon Feb 06, 2017 1:37 pm

Hi,

I'd like to split the H264 encoder component in two parts to encode two video streams separately. Can you tell what is the limit of each encoder block in terms of maximum expected resolution@fps when using them at the same time?

Assume a max rate of 1080p30 (overclocking can get you a bit more). That gives you a maximum pixel rate. You need to spread that between your streams.

You just need two encoder instances (note there is only ONE HW encoder, so the software switches muxes between streams to use it).

I've been saying "Mucho" to my Spanish friend a lot more lately. It means a lot to him.
