Slideshow on Multiple Displays

Sat Sep 10, 2016 1:40 pm

I am working on a project for a local community center. They are placing TV's at the entrance of each conference room and would like to show slide-shows (pics) on each screen. There will be ethernet run to each location. I would like to have a Pi at each location and also have the ability to remotely change the displays depending on the event. Is there a way to set up a master/slave setup using OPENElec or is there a better way?

I would also need an EASY way to admin this as I am unsure of user ability at this point

Thanks for any help or guidance you can give me!

Check out our service, Yodeck Digital Signage. It is easy for end-users and free for 1 Pi, so you can play around.

If you want zero cost, there is always Screenly OSE and other DIY options, though these might be a bit more complex to setup and/or manage.

Check out https://github.com/KenT2/pipresents-next I got that running on a 2B in less than two hours for an offline presentation/slideshow my wife is giving tomorrow.

If you want to be able to control your displays across the internet then https://www.risevision.com/ works on a 2B or 3B. It's free and easy to use but it needs a connection to the RiseVision cloud server all the time. That's why I switched to PiPresents-Next.

Just for completeness: My info-beamer hosted service also allows you to easily change many displays using a central website. You can run a package like the hd image/video player that displays images and videos seamlessly in a loop. You can even arrange it in a way so that all screens switch content at the same time.
