omxplayer truncating files

Wed Aug 15, 2012 2:35 pm

I'm having problems with omxplayer truncating a film/movie.

I'm using the raspberry connected to the TV and wirelessly to my desktop computer. I ssh to the raspberry from the desktop and mount the PC directory on /mnt/ using samba. I can then play the files on the PC. They play fine with no sync problems or pauses, but stop 4 mins from the end. It's very frustrating. The ssh connection to the raspberry doesn't break and I get the "have a nice day ;)" omxplayer completion message.

Ideas anyone, please

Jim

Are you using latest raspbian wheezy image?

Have you done a:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade

I think so!

I've been trying a couple of distros, including raspbian wheezy. I'm pretty sure I've currently got raspberian wheezy installed, but I'm not certain and there appears to be no direct way of checking!

/etc/issue says that it's - "Debian GNU/Linux wheezy/sid \n \l"

and uname -a says that it's - "Linux raspberrypi 3.1.9+ #168 PREEMPT Sat Jul 14 18:56:31 BST 2012 armv6l GNU/Linux"

If I grep through the files in /etc with :
sudo find /etc -type f -name "*" | xargs sudo grep raspbian

I get :
"/etc/apt/sources.list:deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ wheezy main contrib non-free rpi"

So I guess I am using raspbian wheezy! Why is the distro name so deeply hidden?
Have you done a:
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
I did when I installed the distro, but just done it again and got a lot of updates. I'll try again and see if the updates have fixed the problem.

Thanks for the reply.'dom'!

Hi Jim. There was an update for this omxplayer, so hopefully you're good now. On the Foundation Raspbian images, we do actually have /boot/issue.txt and /etc/rpi-issue to help identify the release.

I've just checked /etc/rpi-issue and /boot/issue.txt, 'asb' and they both state:

"Raspberry Pi reference 2012-07-15 (armhf)
Generated using spindle, http://asbradbury.org/projects/spindle/, d2c1253, stage4-lxde-edu.qed"

No mention of "rasbian wheezy" as such.

So how can we tell, apart from the repository url?

This evening my omxplayer have truncating the end of the film. As soon as I check the version and do the upgrade.
