i have purchased (but not yet received) an RPi3 and a DigiAMP+ to power some bookshelf speakers. i will be using this setup as a bedroom Kodi box with external speakers so i can get better sound than the TV's built-in speakers.
however, the bookshelf speakers i have (Insignia NS-SP213 for $30 at Best Buy) don't really have much in the way of bass reproduction. it's definitely better than the TV speakers, but i need more than what these guys provide.
i had the thought that maybe i could power these 2 speakers off the DigiAMP+, then use the RPi3's built-in audio output to run to a small powered subwoofer, creating a 2.1 speaker setup.
i already emailed Gordon over at IQaudIO, and his reply leads me to believe that he is not sure if this is possible; he says it's "an interesting idea", but that he has not tried it.
is it possible to do such a thing, or can i only use one or the other audio output?
Re: RPi3 + DigiAMP+ & 2.1 sound?
if it helps, i will likely be running OpenELEC for the media center

In your situation i'd ditch the bookshelf speakers and get a bluetooth sound bar. You can get a bluetooth dongle for your pi and set Kodi to bluetooth audio output to connect to the sound bar.

My apologies, I glossed over the fact that he is using a Pi3.fruitoftheloom wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 8:22 amdefault_user8 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 11, 2019 4:15 amIn your situation i'd ditch the bookshelf speakers and get a bluetooth sound bar.
