Stream to multiple Bluetooth speakers simultaneusly

Hi

here is an idea I have...

I know I can use a Raspberry Pi as target to stream music to.
I think I can connect a Bluetooth speaker to a Raspberry PI to listen to that music.
I know I can physically add 4x USB Bluetooth dongles to a new Raspberry PI.

Would it be possible to pair multiple speakers (one per USB adapter) and stream the same audio simultaneously?
Anybody tried it... achieved it?

I have seen LED lights with inbuilt bluetooth speakers and I would like to be able to send music from my phone/tablet/computer to the Raspberry PI and from there hit multiple speakers at the same time.

Any suggestions / pointers will be greatly appreciated.

Ciao

Dom

I haven't heard of anybody trying this, you may be the first. 'Simultaneously' will be the biggest challenge. It's difficult enough to synch audio with specialized network protocols like RTP, and your ears will tell you quickly if it's the slightest bit off. I think something listenable is beyond Bluetooth capabilities, but what do I know, I've never tried it.

This has been bugging me for months.

I have been trying to find a way to do just this. Not necessarily with a RPi but recently I thought I could achieve it using the setup you described. One bluetooth dongle per bluetooth speaker.

Did you ever try it? There HAS to be a way to do this

I've successfully connected multiple Bluetooth devices to 1 USB Bluetooth dongle, but that where no speakers. :)
I think (as said before) that syncing will be a main issue.
