Quadcopter (drone) with FPV

I'm looking for a way to have a Raspberry Pi serve as a "ground station" for a quadcopter drone such as the DJI Phantom FC40 or the Walkera QR W100S or some other quadcopter of its kind.
Basically, I want the Raspberry Pi to be able to receive the video captured from these quadcopters in near-real time, for further processing.

There are projects such as the PiCopter which put a Raspberry Pi on top of a Quadcopter, but that's not really what I'm looking for. I'm really looking for an off-the-shelf solution for a Quadcopter and to just be able to receive the telemetry video from it on the ground in the Pi.

How would you go about doing that? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

off-the-shelf ?

dont want to put you off but dont think there exists any solution like that. It should be 'relatively' easy to do but there are plenty of questions to answer, mainly how do you send the video from your quadcopter?

It can even be flown from your mobile device meaning that you can fly it without a transmitter if you'd like. For those of you that prefer to fly with the traditional R/C transmitter, you can do so and still watch the live video feed via wi-fi on your phone or tablet!
So do you want the Pi based ground station to act as the remote control or just to receive (and record?) the Wi-Fi live feed?

Acting just as a receiver will be much easier than operating as a controller (not that I would know where to begin but answering this question will let others know how to help you further).
