The Raspberry Pi may be a possible payload for a rocket built by the rocket club at my university. Does anyone know of any USB accelerometer, GPS, altimeter, etc. combinations that are low cost or open source?

Using the GPIO pins would be cheaper than trying to find something that uses USB. You can get that sort of thing with breakout boards from sparkfun.
